Case Study
The Pitch Performance
Bill Harte, Founder

Challenge
After three decades immersed in the soccer world – as a Division I athlete, Nike and adidas sales representative, and soccer retailer – Bill Harte had the vision to launch a premium soccer apparel brand. But vision alone wasn’t enough.
As a first-time CEO, Bill found himself navigating a steep learning curve. He needed help establishing the legal and financial structure of the business, securing early-stage funding, and confidently assuming his leadership role. While he had deep industry experience, Bill lacked formal backgrounds in startup operations, investor relations, or scaling a direct-to-consumer brand.
“You can’t go to school for being a CEO. Kevin is teaching me how to do it.”

Solution
Bill met Kevin Lancaster during his search for funding and guidance. Kevin first stepped in to review and give advice on the company’s operating agreement. Over the next two months, that relationship evolved. Kevin spent time evaluating the business, offering honest insights, connecting Bill with funders, and eventually deciding to invest himself.
But Kevin’s support didn’t stop at the financial level. He became a trusted coach and mentor, helping Bill make smart, founder-focused decisions.
“He was very fair and always saying, ‘You don’t want to give up too much equity.’ He was looking out for me.”

Key Contributions

Outcome
Thanks to Kevin’s early involvement, The Pitch Performance launched publicly in June 2025 with a strong foundation, a clear brand identity, and a CEO who felt confident in his role.
“Kevin’s a joy to work with. He gives me the freedom to make my own decisions.”
